The modules in this subject extend over the third, fourth and fifth years of study. Lectures, practical and clinical work, seminars and discussions on the following:

  1. Basic principles and therapeutic measures.
  2. Occlusion: development and morphology.
  3. Development and growth: cranium.
  4. Stainless steel: properties and uses.
  5. Orthodontic devices: requirements and types.
  6. Changes in tissue.
  7. Malocclusion: classification and aetiology.
  8. Examination, aids, diagnosis and planning.
  9. Bad habits.
  10. Preventive and interceptive orthodontics.
  11. Treatment: principles, problems with space, methods.
  12. The role of extraction.
  13. Retention.
